St. Anthony Wreck (Keawakapu Artificial Reef)

20° 41.6′ N · 156° 27.3′ W · approximate

A 65-foot shrimp boat scuttled in October 1997 as part of the Keawakapu artificial reef, now lying in about 60 feet of water off Wailea with turtles sleeping in the cabins and V-berth, moray eels and reef sharks around the hull.

Practical

Approx: plotted at the Coast Pilot's fish haven (200 by 1,150 yards, 0.7 mile SW of Keawakapu); dive guides place the wreck about half a mile off Keawakapu Beach. Max depth about 60 ft (51-60 ft in dive logs). Boat or scooter dive; most visitors book with a Kihei dive shop. No state day-use buoy listed here: anchor only on sand clear of the wreck and reef modules. The 2009 artificial-reef module deployment at Keawakapu was the subject of a DLNR corrective action plan.
