Spouting Horn

21° 53.1′ N · 159° 29.6′ W

A lava-shelf blowhole west of Poipu that shoots spray up to 50 feet with each swell, with a hiss Hawaiian legend attributes to a giant lizard trapped in the tube.

Practical

Wikipedia: water is forced up through a narrow lava opening with each wave; spray to about 50 ft; part of the 10-mile Koloa Heritage Trail. Coast Pilot: about 500 yards west of Kukuiula, active even in smooth weather - a handy visual mark from offshore. View from the county lookout ashore; do not approach the shelf.
