Porto Heli Anchorage

37° 19.3′ N · 23° 8.4′ E

The wide, enclosed bay of Porto Heli — described by the municipality as the best-protected harbour in Argolida — with room to anchor off the town, opposite the half-sunken ruins of ancient Halieis.

Practical

Coordinate is one of several OSM charted-anchorage symbols inside the bay (others at 37.3137 N 23.1433 E and 37.3157 N 23.1449 E toward the south shore). The elliptical bay is closed off by its outer entrance and surrounding hills, giving all-round shelter; greeka notes it is very safe and usually has room. Keep clear of the marina pontoons, the ferry quay and moorings off the town. The south-east shore has submerged ancient walls in shallow water — don't anchor or drag over them. Dinghy to the town quay for supermarkets, fuel stations and tavernas. Port Authority +30 27540 53333.
