Monastiri Beach Snorkel (Poros)

37° 30.3′ N · 23° 29.0′ E

The small beach below the 18th-century Monastery of Zoodochos Pigi is known for deep, crystal-clear water, an easy swim from a boat in Monastery Bay.

Practical

Coordinate is Monastiri Beach (OpenStreetMap way 523269769). Visit Greece describes it as 'known for its deep, crystal-clear waters'. Anchor in Monastery Bay (see that entry) in settled weather and swim in; the café 'Melistakto' sits by the monastery (OSM). The beach faces south, so it is sheltered from the summer northerlies but exposed in southerlies. Buses and taxis run here from Poros town, so expect swimmers on summer afternoons.

Best for

Clear-water swim with a monastery visit

Season

Jun–Sep; sheltered from northerlies
