Fiskardo Harbour (Kefalonia)

38° 27.5′ N · 20° 34.6′ E

Kefalonia's northernmost port and the only village on the island that survived the 1953 earthquake intact, so its painted Venetian-era houses still ring the harbour. It's upmarket, lively and the hardest berth to get in the southern Ionian.

Practical

Coordinate is the Wikipedia village point at the harbour. Prevailing summer wind NW–N. Stern-to or alongside the quay and piers; the inner port is crowded and anchor chains cross constantly. Holding poor in places — be ready for a second attempt. The preferred spot is the north(-east) side of the bay with two lines to the windward shore: quieter and more secure. Berth requests to the harbour attendant 'Mr Theo' (+30 69 0704 8814, per SailingIssues — verify). Best visited before May or after mid-October. Gangways come down among the diners. Ferries to Frikes and Lefkada. Thai restaurant Lord Falcon recommended.
