Pserimos Bay (Avlakia)

36° 55.8′ N · 27° 7.9′ E

The village bay of Pserimos, a small island between Kalymnos and Kos with a sandy beach and a strip of tavernas. It goes quiet once the Kos day-trip boats leave in the late afternoon.

Practical

Somewhat protected from the meltemi but subject to considerable swell and very violent gusts. In high summer the little cove is crowded by day-trip caiques from Kos and there is barely room for a yacht by day, so arrive late afternoon. Caution: there is a reef north of Cape Sphuri. No water, fuel or electricity; limited provisions. Trash bins in the village. About 10 nm from Kos Marina. Depths 3–6 m over sand with weed patches and some stone, holding good to very good. The entrance is hard to make out except from the SW, and the outer rocks of the reef north of Ak. Sphuri are easy to spot (my-sea). Another Pserimos anchorage listed by my-sea has 3–9 m over sand, good holding, with the advice to go stern-to the rocks with shore lines in a strong meltemi.

Best for

Evening anchorage after the day boats leave

Season
