Monastery of the Dormition (Psara)
38° 35.8′ N · 25° 35.3′ E
An Athos-style 18th-century monastery high (345 m) in the north of Psara, once home of an El Greco-attributed icon, with a library of 473 manuscripts and printed works and a small folk-life museum.
Practical
Reached by road north of town, east of the junction about 400 m past Ftelio (exploring-greece); CruisersWiki describes it as about a 3-hour walk — not always open, so ask in town before setting off. Allow 1.5 hours. The small Agia Triada church north of it is its oldest building. Destroyed 1824, reopened later; a women's convent until 1980. The Virgin of the Psarians icon is now on Syros.
