Anchorage· Samos· Greece — Dodecanese, Sporades & North Aegean
Kokkari (Samos)
37° 46.8′ N · 26° 53.8′ E
A former fishing village turned resort on the north coast, its beachfront lined with tavernas and its bays a magnet for windsurfers.
Practical
Anchor off in sand with seaweed patches (my-sea). The north coast is exposed to the prevailing summer northerlies - the beach is known for wind and waves (windsurf school next door), so treat Kokkari as a settled-weather or southerly-wind daytime stop rather than a meltemi anchorage. A small harbour serves local craft. Tavernas, cafes and shops right on the waterfront.
Best for
Lunch ashore in a pretty north-coast village
