Kato Fana Bay (Chios)
38° 12.4′ N · 25° 55.6′ E
The easternmost of five meltemi-proof coves west of Cape Mastichon, with the ruins of the ancient Temple of Phanaean Apollo and a small church ashore.
Practical
Anchor in 5-6 m off the sandy beach at the head of the bay; excellent holding, well protected including in the meltemi, over 150 m of swinging room (Grecosailor). Narrow entrance. All five coves are exposed to the SW (CruisersWiki). Road to the medieval village of Olympi about 8 km — a good walk. Mobile coverage very marginal.
Best for
Overnight meltemi shelter with an ancient temple ashore
