Kali Tychi Wreck (Agia Kyriaki)
39° 5.5′ N · 23° 4.0′ E · approximate
A Dutch-built 1917 motorship that sank beside the Agia Kyriaki pier on 24 July 1975. It lies from just 2 m at the stern to 17 m at the bow, so it is an easy, well-lit shore dive for every level and even a snorkel.
Practical
The position is the Agia Kyriaki harbour position; Zoumbosub says the ship lies next to the pier where it was moored. She had loaded 230 tonnes of iron at the Volos steelworks for Heraklion, took on water, and the captain steered her into Agia Kyriaki to try to save her. The shallow depth gives long bottom times and ideal light for photography, and the site is reachable from shore. Agia Kyriaki is a working fishing harbour with a traditional boatyard: dive with a surface marker and keep clear of moving boats. Aquacore Divers in Agia Kyriaki and Zoumbosub both dive the area.
Best for
An easy wreck dive or snorkel straight off the harbour
