39° 11.5′ N · 23° 12.7′ E · approximate
Horto is a tiny fishing hamlet on the south-east shore of the Pagasetic Gulf, 4 km below Argalasti: a small harbour with a jetty built out from the shore, a few traditional tavernas and fishermen's houses. Odyssey Sailing names Horto with Milina and Kottes among the south-east gulf anchorages a few hours from Volos.
Practical
The position is approximate. It is set about 600 m west of the OpenStreetMap village node, off the waterfront café, between Kornelia beach (north-west) and Olive Bay beach (south-east). Check it on your chart. No published depth, holding or berth data was found. The jetty serves local fishing boats, so treat it as a day stop or a settled-weather anchorage and anchor off by eye with the sounder. The gulf is mainly calm, unlike the Aegean side of Pelion. A minimarket is on the main road in the village (OpenStreetMap). Milina, 2 km south, has more tavernas, a bakery and the Alatas anchorages, and Vathia Spilia beach lies on the road between the two. Ashore: the Aggelini museum of old books and everyday objects, and two theatres (indoor and outdoor) run by the Angelinis Hadjinikou Foundation, which host visiting musicians. The ancient city of Spalathra is thought to have stood on Chortokastron hill, which also has Byzantine church and fort remains (Wikipedia). The 2021 census population was 85.
