Helatros Bay (Kasos)
35° 20.7′ N · 26° 52.3′ E
A wild bay of big white pebbles on Kasos's south-west coast, reached through the empty Argos valley. MarinaTips calls it a splendid and well-protected anchorage, and in 1935 the battleship Averof picked up Eleftherios Venizelos from this beach.
Practical
Anchor on sand in 5–10 m (MarinaTips). Moderate protection; avoid strong N and NE winds. A small snack bar or kiosk with a few umbrellas in summer (MarinaTips; kasos.gr). A bust commemorating Venizelos's 1935 evacuation stands here (Wikipedia). On the road in, Agios Georgios monastery at Chadies dates from 1690; its feasts are on 23 April and 3 November (kasos.gr). Few visitors. Mikro Avlaki beach is just west (OSM).
