Tinos Town Harbour
37° 32.2′ N · 25° 9.6′ E · approximate
The busy ferry and pilgrim port of Tinos town (Chora), with a small inner basin for yachts right on the waterfront below the great church of Panagia Evangelistria.
Practical
Berthing: contact the Harbour Office on VHF 7 or 12 for a berth, which will be in the north-west corner of the inner basin; fenders for going alongside; good holding in mud (SailingIssues). Noonsite: visiting yachts berth to the northern quay of the inner harbour; yacht space for 10-12 boats; berths with water and electricity in the NW corner, berths without services on the old ferry quay. Hazards: a heavy chain fouls the seabed very close to the quay, running SSE from the NW corner; the outer southern breakwater extension is partly submerged, leave it to starboard entering. Shelter: all-round inside, but swell from W-NW (pull well off the quay) and southerly surge, especially on the old ferry quay. Hydrofoils and fast ferries manoeuvre at speed, and in heavy weather larger ferries enter the inner basin, increasing the wash. Do not anchor in the harbour: the room is needed for ferries. Strong gusts from N and NE. Harbour Management Organization tel +30 22830 23754. Fees: not found, verify locally. Pin is approx: NW part of the inner basin, placed from OpenStreetMap breakwater geometry.
