Panormos Bay (Tinos)

37° 39.3′ N · 25° 3.5′ E · approximate

The 'all-weather port' on the NE coast of Tinos, the island's only natural harbour, used since antiquity to ship marble and now home to a fishing village of tavernas below Pyrgos.

Practical

SailingIssues: a surprisingly well-sheltered anchorage, secure even in mild easterlies, but only the permanent moorings can deal with easterly winds; holding in the Agia Thalassa cove to the north is mediocre (seaweed); the quay is fully occupied by locals so the pier is the only real option, and any swell entering the bay makes it roll. A reef with a whitish beacon lies between Agia Thalassa and the pier. Tinosecret: shelter from the northern winds; port with two docks. Pin is approx: in the middle of the bay about 250 m off the shore by the OpenStreetMap coastline; Rochari cove lies to the south.

Best for
