Neorion Shipyard (Syros)
37° 26.3′ N · 24° 56.3′ E
Greece's oldest shipyard, founded in 1861 to service the Greek Steamship Company and named Neorion in 1898. Its floating docks and cranes dominate the west side of Ermoupoli harbour.
Practical
A commercial ship-repair yard (ONEX group), not a yacht boatyard: two floating dry docks with adjustable side blocks, vessels up to 230 m x 35 m, address Neoriou 3, Ermoupoli. The group lists mega-yachts among its plans, so ask the yard directly about big-yacht work; for a cruising sailboat haul-out, ask the harbourmaster about local slips and the traditional Karnagio boatyard next door (see Karnagio Boatyard). Several guides say major yacht refits still go to Athens-area yards. OSM maps a 'Synchrolift' pier on the south-east side of the yard (about 37.4367N 24.9396E); no published capacity was found, so ask the yard. The Port Fund's Karnagio fishing harbour beside it has a boat-launch ramp, 450 m of quays and 2-4 m depths, with contact Athanasios Loudaros +30 693 264 4072. Keep clear of ship movements and floating docks on approach to the town quay.
Best for
Emergency or big-boat repairs; harbour landmark
