Langada & Tholaria Villages Hike (Amorgos)

A loop through the mountain villages above Aegiali: Langada with its cave chapel, Stroumbos, the Panagia Epanochoriani church and Tholaria with its vaulted Roman tombs, ending back on the beach.
Practical
Waymarked path 4 'Melania': Aegiali port-Langada-Stroumbos-Panagia Epanochoriani-Tholaria-Fokiotripa (end of Aegiali beach), about 2 hours, easy (amorgos.gr); 7.6 km per the OSM route relation. Path 5 'Pan' extends from Langada to the 6th-century monastery of Agios Ioannis Theologos, Stavros and Mount Krikelos: about 2-2.5 hours, hard (amorgos.gr). Krikelos (821 m) is the island's highest point and a rewarding climb from the Aegiali side (sailingissues). Langada is about 30 minutes uphill from the port. Agios Ioannis Theologos celebrates on 26 September and 8 May (sailingissues). Tavernas in Langada and Tholaria (OSM: Niko's Tavern, To Alozi, Panorama, O Choreftis).
