Koufonisi Harbour (Pano Koufonisi)

36° 55.8′ N · 25° 36.0′ E

The new harbour right beside Koufonisi's whitewashed Chora, the hub of the Small Cyclades: windmills to steer by, laid moorings on the east pier, and tavernas a two-minute walk away.

Practical

Built for all-round shelter, but in strong winds, northerlies included, nasty reflected waves can build in the basin despite the narrow entrance (sailingissues). Ferries use the SE corner. Larger yachts usually moor outside on the NE side. Inside there is plenty of room alongside; in summer go stern-to the big east pier, which has laid moorings tailed to the quay. Depth 5-6 m (George Yachts); a Grecosailor skipper gives about 3 m draught available. The same report praises well-kept mooring lines and a helpful marinero; marina phone +30 697 611 4089. Water available (Grecosailor). No fuel on the quay: the island fuel station is about 1.5 km away by road (koufonisia.gr trail notes; OSM). Fees not published; verify locally. Not a port of entry. Port authority: Naxos coast guard +30 22850 22300 (donoussa.gr). Provisions, bakery, pharmacy, police and ATMs are all in the Chora behind the quay.
