Korthi Bay (Ormos Korthiou, Andros)

37° 46.6′ N · 24° 57.2′ E

The small harbour and bay of Ormos Korthiou on the SE coast of Andros, a lively village of waterfront tavernas below green valleys.

Practical

SailingIssues: the port is small but protects against high waves and winds of the meltemi and NE storms; despite a 40 m quay extension there is little room for visiting yachts, the ends of both breakwaters are unfinished with blocks and shoals. SSW winds funnelling down the valley make it untenable; strong gusts possible from NNE-NE. Other sources say the cove is open to the NE and only small boats can dock (aegeanislands.gr) -- the sources disagree, so treat it as a fair-weather stop and check the forecast. Rocks are charted around the harbour entrance (OpenStreetMap seamarks). EKO fuel station and a supermarket in the village. Pin is the SailingIssues harbour marker.

Best for
