Champon Pearl Farm
16° 41.1′ S · 151° 29.0′ W
Family pearl farm on the road above Apu Bay, founded by Monique and Bernard Champon and now run with their children. Visits explain grafting and harvesting of Tahitian black pearls.
Practical
Position from the OpenStreetMap node. Land at the second large pier inside Apu Bay (Champon's) and walk the little road to the farm. Visits by reservation, in French and English (40 65 66 26; champonb@mail.pf). Moor or anchor in ZMR de Apu. No separate pearl-farm mooring field exists; Pointe Toamaro (east side of the Apu Bay entrance) has the ZMR de Apu directly off it. Pearl-farm floats and lines are common in Taha'a's bays, even near channels.
