Biosecurity Inspection – Papeete (pre-arrival questionnaire)
17° 32.1′ S · 149° 35.2′ W · approximate
Since 2026 every yacht arriving from a foreign port must file a biosecurity questionnaire and boarding request at least 48 hours before arrival, then get an onboard inspection in Papeete or Nuku Hiva.
Practical
Coordinates are the Papeete harbour entrance; the inspection is arranged after the online request. File at mes-demarches.gov.pf (demande_arraisonnement_voiliers) at least 48 hours before arrival; a 1,000 XPF fee is paid online (Noonsite cruiser report, June 2026). For 2026 all yachts must go to Papeete or Nuku Hiva for the inspection wherever they checked in; inspections at other ports are promised from 2027. One inspector said you cannot check out of FP without the biosecurity clearance certificate; enforcement is reported as uneven. Until cleared, do not land food, plants, wood, animals or animal products; keep animals locked up and report any on board (+689 40 540 100, zoo.dbs@biosecurite.gov.pf); report ants to +689 40 54 45 85; fruit is recorded and sealed (DPAM). Also send the maritime health declaration (DMS) 48 hours before arrival to veille.sanitaire.arass@administration.gov.pf.
