Avera Village Shops & Boulangerie Bouleau

16° 46.8′ S · 151° 25.1′ W

Avera, the main village on Raiatea's south-east coast, has a small commercial centre with Boulangerie Bouleau, a few magasins and a pharmacy. You can walk to it from the Vairahi anchorage, and it's the only real shopping between Uturoa and the south of the island.

Practical

The 2025 brief says Vairahi Bay (ZMR quota 10 yachts, 48 hours max, well sheltered from SE winds) 'provides access to the village of Avera and its small shops'. Land at the floating dock in the fishing-boat marina. OSM maps the bakery (Boulangerie Bouleau) next to a small shopping centre on the coast road, about 600 m from the ZMR. The brief lists a pharmacy in Avera. The Avera pearl farms (Perles d'Ö, Vairua) and the Three Cascades hike start nearby. Hours not published; verify locally. Bring cash, since small shops may not take cards.
