Tuherahera Village Anchorage (Tikehau)

15° 6.9′ S · 148° 14.3′ W

Sand anchorage just east of the quay at Tuherahera, Tikehau's flowery village, with the bakery, magasins, post office and snacks a short walk from the dinghy.

Practical

Position 15°06.886'S 148°14.259'W in 25-30 ft (8-9 m) sand with widely scattered bommies (Jacaranda 2018; also Noonsite 2023). Leave the quay plenty of room: the supply ship (the Mareva Nui among others; weekly on Tuesday as of 2020) ties to the T-head and needs space to manoeuvre. Others anchor between the marina and the Tikehau Pearl Beach Resort in 12 m sand with plenty of swing room, in front of the pensions east of the dock; some pensions let you leave a dinghy at their dock if you don't obstruct it. Bumpy in E or NE winds and at 20 kt. Avoid anchoring right in front of resorts; the resort on Motu Aua is reported to move boats on. Approach from the pass by the well-marked channel in good light. No cruiser trash facilities (2019); the village dump is described as for locals only.

Best for
