Tiputa Wharf Dinghy Landing
14° 58.3′ S · 147° 38.1′ W
The concrete Ohotu wharf on the western edge of Tiputa Pass, where water taxis, dive boats and cruisers' dinghies come and go, with shops, snacks and dive centres steps away.
Practical
Coordinate is the Ohotu Pier (Port d'Ohotu) in OpenStreetMap; a ferry terminal for the cross-pass water taxi sits on it. Use a stern anchor so the dinghy can't get caught under the wharf, and leave room for the water taxis. Very busy on supply-ship days, and local kids love playing on dinghies, so many cruisers land on the beach just west of the wharf, tie the bow to a tree and set a stern anchor. Water taxi across the pass to Tiputa village cost 250 XPF per person each way in 2011 (verify locally); in normal conditions you can take your own dinghy across.
