Rent a bike near the wharf and pedal the flat coast road from Tiputa Pass to Avatoru, past white churches, craft and pearl shops, the winery and lagoon viewpoints.
Practical
Start at Magasin Tatie Henriette (coordinate, OpenStreetMap), which rents bikes; the Kia Ora and car-rental firms (Rangiroa Rental Car +689 87 75 60 77) also rent bikes and scooters. The road runs about 8 km in a straight line from Ohotu to Avatoru Pass, all flat. Go early: shops close roughly 12pm-2:30pm. Combine with the gendarmerie, Shell station, Magasin Maeva and the Avatoru ATM. Taxi Beline +689 87 21 00 30 if you run out of steam (2019).
