Tiputa Village

14° 58.6′ S · 147° 37.5′ W

The quiet traditional village on the east side of Tiputa Pass, with the Notre-Dame-de-Paix church, a craft market, post office and ATM, reached by dinghy or water taxi across the pass.

Practical

Coordinate from OpenStreetMap. Land at the Tiputa pier or the small marina just south. Mairie, OPT post office and cash machine are clustered near the pier; recycling bins on the main street are labelled for glass, cans and plastic. Only cross the pass by dinghy near slack water and in light wind; otherwise use the water taxi from the Ohotu wharf (250 XPF each way in 2011; verify locally).
