Shark Cave Observatory (Tumakohua Pass)
16° 31.1′ S · 145° 27.7′ W · approximate
A small cave on the floor of the south pass where divers tuck out of the current and watch the shark wall stream overhead.
Practical
Depth about 28-30 m (Boatbookings itinerary: 'Shark Cave' at about 28 m; Sailing Infinity 2022: a small cave at about 30 m sheltering from the current). In 2022 a cruiser was guided there by Enata Diving and called it awesome, a spot you would not find on your own. Guided dives only (2025 rules). Coordinate approx: the published south-pass dive waypoint; the cave's own position is not published.
Best for
Advanced divers on nitrox
