Practical

Approximate: Garumaoa (Ngarumaoa) village is on the west rim about 1.5 nm south of the pass and north of the airport (16.0469S / 142.4769W, French Wikipedia). The position is interpolated between the 'inside the pass' waypoint (16°01.0134S / 142°27.1706W) and the airport; no source gives a village waypoint, so confirm on satellite imagery. Freeirie (April 2023): free drinking water three times a week in any amount; use only if you really need it. The commune sheet (July 2024) says water was being given out free on Mon, Wed and Fri because the prepaid-card system had broken; it is normally sold at 20 XPF per litre. Fuel: gasoline is sometimes available from the ship (2020); diesel by the jug and gasoline in 200-litre drums direct from the ship, and possibly fuel from the pearl farm nearest the village (2016).
