Ohotu Reef Wall Dive (outside Garuae Pass)
16° 4.2′ S · 145° 42.2′ W · approximate
The ocean-side reef flat and wall off Motu Ohotu, east of the pass entrance, where greys and whitetips patrol and mantas sometimes cruise the drop-off. It is the gentler alternative when the pass is running hard.
Practical
Top Dive: a reef flat at about 40 ft dropping to about 100 ft, with grey and whitetip sharks, tuna and manta rays on the drop-off; suitable for all levels. diveplanit adds schools of barracuda, surgeonfish and Napoleon wrasse. The y.co guide lists Ohotu reef for tuna, rays and deep drop-offs. Book with a north operator. Coordinate approx: offset seaward of the OSM Ohotu islet; the exact site is not published.
