Rental also from Pension Moana Nui (Tony Loc). 2019 price: Suzuki Jimny 4x4 about 10,000 XPF/day (verify locally). Airport transfer: NHYS $40 per person each way (2020), about an hour by the improved road (Noonsite 2026). Guides named by cruisers: Jocelyne Mamatui (English, 6-8 seat van), Richard Temarama Deane (Temarama Tour), Laurane of Tiki Tours. A full-day island tour ran about $65 per person plus lunch (2020). The road beyond Taipivai to Hatiheu and Aakapa needs 4x4 skills, especially in rain. Hitchhiking is hard in Taiohae, easier in other villages.
