The island's petrol station on the Moerai waterfront road, a short jerry-can walk from the harbour, and one of the two places in town that rent cars.
Practical
Diesel and petrol by jerry can only (no fuel dock). Car rental here and at Sinn supermarket, about 10,000 XPF/day (Pitufa 2018, verify locally); bikes, scooters and cars are also rented near the airport (Moana 2023). A single 36 km road circles the island and one crosses it. Hitch-hiking is very easy: the crew of Pitufa never needed a car. Supply ship every 2 weeks; ask at the station about stock before a long passage.
