Marquesas Puddle Jump Arrival Season
8° 55.2′ S · 140° 6.2′ W · approximate
Each southern autumn the Pacific Puddle Jump fleet from the Americas makes landfall in the Marquesas, and Taiohae fills with boats clearing in, refuelling and reprovisioning at the same time.
Practical
Position approx: plotted at the Taiohae Bay anchorage. The area overview gives April to June as the peak. Fuel, gas and fresh food can run out when the fleet arrives at once (some boats waited two weeks for a supply ship), so fuel up on arrival rather than before leaving; the gendarmerie currently clears yachts only Monday and Thursday mornings (Noonsite 2026), so expect queues. Pitufa suggests arriving around February, before the fleet crowds the anchorages. Resources: the Pacific Puddle Jump groups.io email group and Facebook group (compendium).
