Hirifa Beach
16° 27.3′ S · 145° 22.1′ W
Fakarava's postcard beach: a long white-sand point at the south-east corner, wrapped by shallow turquoise flats and sandbars.
Practical
Land by dinghy from the Hirifa anchorage. The flats are shallow with scattered coral bommies just under the surface, which are hard to see in some light and dangerous for kiters who fall (2015 report). No services except Laiza's snack (book ahead) in season. Take all trash back to Rotoava. Biting no-see-ums at dawn and dusk; one report says 10 am to 4 pm is bug-free.
Best for
Beach walks, paddling and sundowners
