Hakapaa Lobe Anchorage (Controleur Bay)

8° 53.7′ S · 140° 3.1′ W

The wild westernmost finger of Controleur Bay: reef on both sides, pigs on the beach, a shell beach next door and a short walk to a waterfall, surprisingly calm when the swell is down.

Practical

Jacaranda (Oct 2015) anchored at 08°53.70'S / 140°03.14'W on sand in 30 ft, 21 ft at LW when stretched back toward reef and beach; come in at low water in good light to see the reefs; water was murky. Noonsite (2026): 5-10 m, muddy sand. Reefs run off both shores. Only good with no swell; no-nos can reach the boat. The neighbouring Hakapuvai beach (another Survivor location) has shells, and there is coral snorkelling in both.

Best for

A secluded night with a waterfall walk

Season

Only in settled weather with little S swell
