Arutua Mairie and Landing Rules (Rautini)

15° 21.7′ S · 146° 37.2′ W

The seat of the commune of Arutua (which also governs Apataki and Kaukura), beside Rautini's shops: the place to report if you arrive by local boat or air, since yachts cannot enter the lagoon.

Practical

Position is the OpenStreetMap 'Mairie' building in Rautini. Mayor Reupena Samuel Taputuarai (July 2020) and delegate mayor Elodie Tinomoe (May 2021), per the 2024 atoll sheet; 2 municipal police officers. Arutua is NOT a port of entry and the Manina pass is a local small-boat pass with about 1 m at the landing stage (see the passage entry). A regulated fishing zone (ZPR) has applied since April 2021, and 70 pearl farmers hold 1,190 ha of lagoon concessions (2024), so do not fish or anchor near farm lines without asking here. The atoll's abri (cyclone shelter) also houses the mairie and health post (2024 sheet).
