Bol & Zlatni Rat beach (Brač)

43° 15.4′ N · 16° 38.1′ E

Croatia's most famous beach, a white-pebble spit that juts south into the Hvar channel about 2 km west of Bol. Its tip swings with wind, waves and current. The steady afternoon maestral also makes it a top windsurfing spot.

Practical

Position is the OSM beach (way 299176619). You can anchor off either side depending on the wind, but the bottom is mostly rock slab and stone, not sand; respect the marked swim zones and the 150 m rule for natural beaches. The channel has strong currents and afternoon wind. Very crowded in July-August.

Best for

A famous beach swim and windsurfing

Season

Jun-Sep; maestral afternoons
