Blue Cave (Modra špilja, Biševo)
42° 58.8′ N · 16° 1.3′ E
A sea cave in Balun cove on the east side of Biševo, where sunlight through an underwater opening lights the water a glowing blue. It is protected as a natural monument and one of the most visited sights in Dalmatia.
Practical
Private boats, dinghies and swimmers may not enter. Visits are only in the operator's small boats, which load at the reception at Mezuporat (see the Mezuporat entries). The entrance is about 1.5 m high, so everyone ducks. Do not anchor off the cave. Best light roughly 10:30 am to noon. Visits stop when the sea is rough, which is common in jugo or strong maestral; check the live queue and weather on modraspilja.hr. Operator phone +385 91 463 3330.
