The anchorage in the wide river just east of the bridge, in front of Nana Juana, RAM and Mar Marine — free anchoring within dinghy reach of town and the yards.
Practical
Noonsite: plenty of space to anchor free; local advice is to anchor in front of Fronteras or a marina, or in a group all monitoring the same VHF channel. Dinghy and outboard thefts have been reported here (2015) — lift and lock the dinghy at night. One cruiser guide recommends taking a mooring off a marina rather than anchoring while you look around. Fresh water: no osmosis on the hull, but check anodes. Coordinate approximate (mid-river east of the bridge, from OSM marina positions).
