Klein Curaçao
11° 59.3′ N · 68° 38.6′ W
A low, uninhabited 1.7 km2 island about 10 km off Curaçao's southeast tip with the island's longest, whitest beach, a pink-and-white lighthouse, a rusting tanker wreck on the windward shore and nesting hawksbill, loggerhead and green turtles.
Practical
No facilities and little shade (Curaçao Tourist Board). Lighthouse with 15 nm range; tanker Maria Bianca Guidesman wreck broken up on the windward side since 1988; turtles nest on the beaches (Wikipedia). Day-trip boats run from Curaçao (1.5-2 hours). For yachts: stop on the lee side in settled weather; it is illegal to stop before clearing into Curaçao if arriving from Bonaire (Virgintino) - visit from Spanish Water after clearance. Exposed open-sea anchorage; avoid in strong trades or any swell. Coordinate: OpenStreetMap island.
