Fronteras / Río Dulce Town

15° 39.6′ N · 89° 0.2′ W

The busy frontier town at the foot of the Río Dulce bridge — the region's service hub, with produce stalls, supermarkets, a fish market, marine and hardware stores, and buses to Guatemala City, Flores and Tikal.

Practical

Coordinate is the market from OpenStreetMap; Despensa Familiar supermarket at 15.65986, -89.00387. Dinghy landing: Bruno's courtesy dock on the north bank by the bridge. Noonsite (2020): two full supermarkets, a fish market, plenty of fresh produce, several marine/hardware stores, hose, solar, tool, battery and fibreglass shops; parts shipped in from Miami. Casa Guatemala's boats used to sell produce, meat and cheese to marinas twice a week. Armed guards at banks and supermarkets are normal. ATMs available. Old notes: Reed's store ('Cheaky's') on the south side of the bridge with its own dinghy dock for staples, frozen meat and wine.
