Tarpum Bay Anchorage
24° 58.5′ N · 76° 11.1′ W
A shallow, sandy roadstead off the government dock of Tarpum Bay, a colourful artsy fishing settlement where the catch is cleaned and sold right on the dock.
Practical
Position from the ActiveCaptain marker. Good holding in white sand in about 7 ft; deeper water has poorer holding and coral, so work about 100 ft into the sand to avoid coral spots (2019). Open roadstead: protection only in easterlies; landing can be wet in a chop off the Sound, and the rebuilt pier was missing its steps in 2015. Ashore: two well-stocked groceries close by (2014), Barbie's Deli, a coffee shop and bar off the beach (2019). Fuel: Shell at Tarpum Head and a station on Charles Street (OpenStreetMap).
Best for
An afternoon or overnight stop for a colourful settlement
