Middle Ground Bank Anchorage (en route to Water Cay)

23° 17.4′ N · 75° 50.9′ W

An overnight stop in the open on the Great Bahama Bank between Hog Cay Cut and the northern Jumentos, out of sight of land, with water so clear you can see starfish on the bottom at night.

Practical

ActiveCaptain marker 'Middle Ground Great Exuma'. No shelter from any direction and no shore access; settled weather only. Eyeball navigation required: the bank has scattered coral heads, so cross in good overhead light and anchor in clean sand. Used as a halfway stop by boats that cannot make Hog Cay Cut to Water Cay in one daylight run. Only one review (2011), so treat as a calm-weather option, not a destination.

Best for

Breaking the Hog Cay Cut to Water Cay run in flat calm
