Matthew Town groceries, water and fuel

20° 57.0′ N · 73° 40.4′ W · approximate

A small but functional town for restocking before the Windward Passage: a general store fed by Morton's salt-boat supply run, liquor, bread, a breakfast-and-sandwich shop and delivered diesel.

Practical

Coordinate is the GeoNames point for Matthew Town. 2012 Noonsite report: Inagua General Store on the beach road gets fresh produce when Morton's salt boat returns from Florida (about every eight days at the time); Ingraham's Liquor up Kortwright St. Diesel arrives by truck - arrange through the dockmaster; WWG (Mar 2025) says by fuel truck, likely cash only. Several reports warn to check diesel quality (one found it smelling of gasoline) - filter it. Bring US or Bahamian cash.
