Anchorage· South Andros· Bahamas — Eleuthera, Andros & the Out Islands
Grassy Cay Anchorage
23° 45.4′ N · 77° 25.2′ W
A bird-inhabited rocky cay off South Andros with 7 to 8 ft of white sand and dozens of patch reefs: solitude, spearfishing and lobster.
Practical
Position from ActiveCaptain. Excellent holding in packed sand; more water closer to the cay. Can get rolly on tide changes; OK in easterlies, wide open from every other direction. Numerous patch reefs in 10 to 20 ft within a mile, with grouper, hogfish, mangrove snapper, triggerfish and lobster (2013). Weak but usable cell signal from Mars Bay. Check that you are outside any protected area and hold a fishing permit before spearing.
Best for
Spearfishing and solitude in easterlies
