Governor's Harbour groceries and bakery

25° 11.7′ N · 76° 14.6′ W

The best provisioning in central Eleuthera: a supermarket by the Shell station, a convenience store, liquor stores and a bakery famous for donuts, all a short walk from the anchorage.

Practical

Position is the supermarket next to the Shell station in OpenStreetMap, which matches the cruiser description 'grocery at the gas station, across from the police and fire stations' (ActiveCaptain). Also in town: Burrows convenience store (OpenStreetMap), three liquor stores within walking distance, Bristol and 700 Wines for stocking up (2018). The Governor's Harbour Bakery (25.19267 N, 76.24241 W, ActiveCaptain) sold Bahamian bread, donuts, meat pies and lunchtime hot dogs, but an ActiveCaptain note says it closed in 2025 and moved to Hatchet Bay as Hot Buns Bakery: check before walking over (Missy Chrissy's in North Palmetto Point is the nearest alternative). Fresh fish is sold at the boat ramp. Two well-stocked groceries at reasonable prices (2016). Restocking follows the mail-boat days.
