Fernandez Creek winds south through mangroves to New Bight's bay past turtles, baby sharks and wading birds, and leads to the 'Boiling Hole', a snorkel-friendly blue hole.

Practical

Coordinate is the Fernandez Bay Village point; the creek starts at the south end of the bay. Go at high tide. White stick markers show the dinghy route through to New Bight (2016). Take the right fork first; once in New Bight's bay the left fork reportedly leads to a blue hole (2018). The resort offers guided eco-tours, kayaks and paddleboards and gives out maps at the front desk. You can also dinghy around Bonefish Point and land within about 5 blocks of New Bight Market (2012). Watch the tide or you will be walking the dinghy home.

A high-tide dinghy or kayak through the mangroves
