South Bimini West Anchorage (old range channel)
25° 42.2′ N · 79° 18.4′ W
An open settled-weather anchorage off South Bimini's west beach, in line with the range marks of the old harbour channel, used to wait for daylight before running the entrance.
Practical
Position from ActiveCaptain. 15-20 ft, less closer to land; holding fine. Approach south of the channel markers using the old range. Not a charted anchorage: a 2017 crew in 5-7 knots still found the rollers unbearable overnight. No easy landing: use Alice Town or the marinas. Do not anchor here after dark if the wind has any westerly component.
Best for
Waiting for daylight to enter Bimini harbour
