Snake Cay Anchorage (Great Stirrup)

25° 49.2′ N · 77° 54.1′ W

A tiny, very protected hole tucked between Great Stirrup Cay and a charted shoal: room for one boat and a flat-calm night when the bigger anchorages are rough.

Practical

ActiveCaptain position. Narrow channel between Great Stirrup and the charted shoal; approach depth about 5 ft (1.5 m) with a 3 ft tide and moderate current. An April 2026 review (45 ft, 5 ft 2 in draft) rode out NE 20 kt in calm water but warned there is very little swinging room. Visitors were waved off landing a dog on this part of Great Stirrup. Enter on a rising tide in good light.
