Port Lucaya Marina (closed for redevelopment)

26° 30.8′ N · 78° 38.5′ W

The marina right in front of Port Lucaya Marketplace, long the default stop for boats visiting Lucaya. It has been closed for years, and demolition of the derelict docks began on July 23, 2026 as phase one of a $21.8m rebuild; berth at its sister marina, Grand Bahama Yacht Club, across Bell Channel meanwhile.

Practical

Position from OpenStreetMap (Port Lucaya Marina basin). When open it took boats to 190 ft with Pelican Bay Hotel alongside. The site says GBYC runs a free short ferry back and forth; phones 242-373-7618 or 954-284-5193. The Count Basie Square, UNEXSO and the marketplace restaurants are all on its waterfront, so dinghy or ferry over from GBYC. Redevelopment (Tribune, July 2026): demolition of three dock fingers was expected to take about six weeks, and phase one is to deliver 60 concrete slips, dredging of the basin, a new fuel dock and renovated shoreside facilities, by developer Bahamas Land and Water Ways with Executive Marine Management overseeing the work. No reopening date has been announced, so expect a construction zone and verify locally before planning on a berth.

Best for

Watch for reopening after the rebuild; meanwhile berth at GBYC
