Nipper's Reef snorkel (Great Guana Atlantic reef)

26° 40.1′ N · 77° 6.2′ W · approximate

Elkhorn and staghorn coral reef lies just off Great Guana's Atlantic beach below Nipper's — swim straight out from the sand.

Practical

Approximate position about 75 m off the Atlantic beach below Nipper's, from the OpenStreetMap coastline. Enter from the beach and swim out to the reef; snorkel only when the Atlantic swell is down and watch for surge and current. Turtles (loggerhead, green and hawksbill) nest on Guana's beaches — avoid marked nests. Leave coral untouched; Guana residents campaigned for years to protect this reef from development.
