Marsh Harbour Anchorage

Central Abaco's main harbour: a wide, shallow basin in front of the town's marinas with a constant turnover of cruisers stocking up on groceries, parts and fuel. Marinas.com calls it the deepest and best-protected harbour in the Abacos.

Practical

Waterway Guide reference point N 26 32.820 / W 077 03.510, 6-9 ft. Best holding is in 6-8 ft directly south of waypoint 3 on the entrance chart; the eastern end of the harbour beyond the Conch Inn Marina is soft and a last resort. Bottom is described both as grass and sand and as mud that holds very well (2025 review). Marinas.com gives 8-10 ft with sand and excellent holding inside. Approach via the buoyed passage (6-8 ft), giving Outer Point and Inner Point (both flashing green) a wide berth; the long dredged cut is for cruise ships and ferries. Keep clear of the fairways and leave swinging room. Lock the dinghy and outboard ashore: Noonsite reports several thefts. Dinghy landing at the public dock or marina dinghy docks; groceries, fuel, hardware and laundry are all within walking distance.
